99942 Apophis is a near-Earth asteroid which was name after an Egyptian deity 'Apep' enemy of the Sun god 'Ra'. It is approximately 370 meters in diameter. The initial observation of its orbit forwarded a possibility of 2.7% hitting the Earth or Moon on 13 April 2020, but later researches eliminate the possibility of collision.

 

The highest possibility of collision of 99942 Apophis is on 12 April 2068 calculated by JPL Sentry risk table with chances of collision are 1 out of 150,000. Scientists have not enough data about 99942 Apophis. The event of the Apophis asteroid in 2029 will give scientists an excellent opportunity of getting detailed information about the asteroid.

As per the latest reports, Astronomers from the University of Hawaii were able to get precise information about the 99942 Apophis asteroid after observing the asteroid for three nights in January and one night in March. They proved the Yarkovsky effect in that asteroid which means the 2068 Apophis collision is still in the play.

 

You will able to see 99942 Apophis with naked eyes. It will appear as a bright light passing across the sky. It will move from East to West Australia, it will mid-morning in the US. Then it will cross the Indian ocean and continue to move in the West. As the asteroid passes by Earth, it becomes brighter and faster.
